Frank Kimball has interviewed or counseled more than 9,500 law students and lawyers and hired or placed hundreds of partners, associates, and summer associates. As the hiring partner and summer program chair for McDermott, Will & Emery and as an associate with Shearman & Sterling, he interviewed at 25 law schools. He has 29 years' experience interviewing, hiring, and evaluating lawyers and law students.   He has placed partners, department heads, practice group leaders, and associates with more than 20 leading national firms in Chicago, Washington, and other leading markets.   He has advised more than 20 AmLaw 100 firms on lateral and entry-level hiring, attorney compensation and has trained hundreds of campus and office interviewers for  leading firms in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, and other markets.

A 1977 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Frank won (with his brother George) the Henry M. Campbell Moot Court Competition, was a Note & Comment Editor of the  Michigan Journal of Law Reform, and a Senior Writing Instructor. He graduated magna cum laude
from U.C.L.A., is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and was Second Speaker at the 1973 National Debate Tournament.

His views on hiring have been published in the National Law Journal, Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, ABA Journal, Chicago Lawyer, The American Lawyer, Legal Times of Washington, New Jersey Lawyer, Texas Lawyer, The Miami Business Review, and other media.

He joined Shearman & Sterling in New York as a litigation associate. He argued major appeals in banking, tax, takeover, and shareholder derivative matters. He joined Chicago’s McDermott, Will & Emery in 1986 as a litigation partner - and served on the hiring committee for six years, chaired the summer program in 1988-89, and served as national hiring partner in 1990-1992.

Frank has presented more than eighty programs sponsored by the Offices of Career Services at Harvard, Michigan, Northwestern, Duke, Virginia,Georgetown, Illinois, Chicago, Columbia, New York University, DePaul, Washington & Lee, Loyola, Indiana, and other law schools. He has presented scores of programs for hiring partners, and placement professionals including the 1992, 1995, 1997, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009 NALP Annual Conferences, the 1996 NALSC Annual Meeting, IOMA Seminars, and dozens of other programs for recruiting professionals regionally and nationally.
 
Frank’s family includes his wife Linda Listrom, two children, Matthew (25) and Shannon (19), and Sandy (13) — the fiercest golden retriever in captivity. A diehard Michigan football fan, his outside interests include coaching youth football and spending vacations on horseback in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming.
